CHAI’s global malaria and neglected tropical disease (NTD) program provides direct technical and operational support to countries around the globe to strengthen their programs and reduce the burden of preventable, treatable diseases. We support governments to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, with the goals of sustainably reducing the number of illnesses and deaths worldwide in the short-term and accelerating progress towards elimination of malaria and NTDs in the long term.
CHAI’s work in malaria Commodity Access provides support for National Malaria Control Programs (NMCPs) throughout sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central America. CHAI’s Commodity Access Team support involves providing analytical, operational, and management expertise to help CHAI’s country teams and NMCPs achieve high coverage in diagnosing, treating and curing malaria patients. On a global scale, CHAI collaborates with global malaria stakeholders like the Global Fund to Fight AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria or the World Health Organization on malaria policies, priorities and strategies to improve patient access to malaria commodities.
Position Overview:
CHAI is seeking a Regional Associate to help identify, design, implement and evaluate opportunities that can increase the proportion of malaria patients that is treated and cured across the public, private and community sectors in Lao PDR, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Associate will act as a liaison between CHAI’s country teams and CHAI’s global teams to provide technical support around new or revised global policy guidance on malaria case management, evidence from published or grey literature or learnings and experiences from CHAI’s other regions.
This Regional Associate will be based in Asia with extensive travel across the region and to other trans-continental meetings roughly 30-50% time.
This Regional Associate must have excellent communications skills and cultural sensitivity, as they will be working closely with global and country partners. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and project management skills and will be capable of synthesizing data and literature, conducting rapid analyses and communicating such analyses on a regular basis in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and partners. The Regional Associate will be able to collaborate effectively with other teams, function efficiently in a semi-independent setting, and thus be a self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple tasks at once and making sound independent decisions regarding data analysis.
