To reinforce our Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Advisory Team, we are looking for a Regional CBID Advisor – West Africa. 

The position is a full-time position.

This position is only filled locally in Lomé (Togo), Niamey (Niger) or Yaoundé (Cameroon), with contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.

These are your responsibilities

Support the global work of the CBID Initiative

  • Participate in the collective work of the CBID Initiative team: Team meetings, Initiative workshops as required and relevant, CBID Community of Practice, share information as appropriate
  • Implement the CBID Initiative plan in West Africa in alignment with other CBID advisors in the region
  • Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of the CBID Capacity Development & Training programme
  • Support the development and publication of content on CBM’s CBID work across all internal and external communication channels (e.g. intranet, websites, newsletters and webinars)
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate good practice examples and case studies of CBID programmes which can be used for reporting, general communication and advocacy work
  • Contribute to the development and review of tools, guidelines, technical documents of the CBID Initiative as relevant

Strengthen CBID capacities in West Africa

  • Provide direct technical support to CBM Country Offices and partners’ staff on CBID: Conduct field/ monitoring visits, Organise and run face-to-face and online CBID capacity development workshops and trainings alongside Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs),
  • Participate in the development, kick-off workshops, review, baselining and evaluations of CBID projects/ programmes (3-way working methodology across the entire programme cycle)
  • Participate in the development of CBID proposals for Legally Contracted Designated Funds (LCDF)  funding opportunities (3-way working methodology)
  • Participate in the development, review and evaluation of CBM country plans (3-way working methodology, i.e. close engagement of Country Offices, CBID Initiative and Fundraising Departments)
  • Conduct CBID assessments on request of Country Offices, the Africa West and Central Regional Hub Office or the CBID Initiative
  • Support Country Offices in building strategic alliances with key actors internally and externally to advocate for Disability inclusive programming
  • Facilitate evidence based CBID-practice linked with programmatic interventions (e.g. through collaboration with academic institutions)
  • Contributes to developing/strengthening working relationships and partnerships with regional and national Organisations of the Persons with Disabilities (ODPs) in the region.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties and responsibilities as agreed through the management line.

These are your qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social science or related field
  • In-depth knowledge in development and inclusion theory and practice and community development
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the development sector
  • Proven working experience in the domain of disability inclusion, preferably including disability inclusive community development
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering technical assistance for civil society organisations, including organisations of persons with disabilities and/or public administration
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in management of development projects/programmes at a senior level
  • Disability-related training / knowledge in inclusion and inclusive project cycle management
  • Proven experience in training professionals, practitioners, and other groups
  • Experience in advocacy for inclusion advantageous
  • Experience in the livelihood or education sector advantageous
  • French (fluent), English (professional proficiency)
  • Advanced skills with MS O365 suite (incl. MS Office)
  • Confident user of e-conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, GoToMeeting etc.) that enable remote engagement with partners and CBM Offices
  • Familiar with basic accounting practice and tools
  • Knowledge in ProMIS, MS SharePoint and Moodle platforms advantageous
  • Identification with the Christian values and mandate of CBM.
