Who Are We?

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization with operations in 40 countries dedicated to assisting, protecting, and finding solutions for refugees, internally displaced and other conflict-affected communities. To stay relevant and meet the needs of the people we serve, we are exploring new, innovative ways of responding to displacement crises.

For the past years, DRC has increasingly engaged in anticipatory action responses related to both climate hazards and conflict-induced displacement. We have developed innovative tools to forecast displacement from hazards to enable humanitarian actors to get ahead of crises. We have implemented several projects in response to drought and floods in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Yemen, and work across the regions in countries coping with conflict induced displacement.

About The Job

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the wider international humanitarian community possess a robust understanding of the effects of disasters through data modelling, but there is still an underutilization of such models to anticipate and predict conflict events. DRC has developed the FORESIGHT model which combines community, mobility and other data to forecast conflict-induced displacement. However, the capacity to take action from such forecasts remains limited. To address this, DRC aims to amalgamate community-led data gathering and disaster predictive modelling, creating anticipatory action mechanisms that can help prepare for and anticipate population movements resulting from conflict disasters. The project intends to refine the predictive model to incorporate community-level data, test the model in different contexts, and develop a global framework that showcases the effectiveness of the predictive model for the wider humanitarian community

The IM Specialist will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and disseminating information related to displacement predictions modelling and protection information monitoring for Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Asia-Europe and Middle East Regional Offices.
