Job Description

Provides administrative and operational support to include updating student records, implementing customer service initiatives, production, and issuance of official A&M Texarkana transcripts for current/previous students, and alumni.

Salary Information: The expected salary for this position is $35,690 annually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provides timely response to inquiries concerning transcripts. Responsible for the production and processing of official transcript requests.
  • Responsible for the processing of student drops and withdrawals and ensures requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Process directory information requests to mark academic records confidential or remove the confidential status.
  • Process name change, address change, and other student information changes when requested.
  • Assists Registrar with dissemination of information to students, faculty and staff regarding the University and other state mandated requirements.
  • Assists with student registration and data entry.  Assists students and faculty with questions and problems.
  • Assists with university events/ceremonies including, but not limited to, SOAR and graduation ceremonies.
  • Ensures accuracy of data entry. Assists in auditing student records for accuracy
  • Evaluates work methods and makes suggestions to improve procedures and job efficiencies.
  • Assists the Registrar’s Office with the storage of student files on Laserfiche.  Coordinates and maintains the scanning process for the Registrar’s Office to ensure all documents are properly scanned into the student files.
  • Ability to work with confidential materials and ensures that the institution is in compliance with the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
  • Research and resolve complex issues and respond to inquiries. Inputs data and updates electronic databases.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • One year of related experience
  • Strong computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the public and the students served.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and perform tasks accurately and independently
  • Must possess strong time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by federal, state, system, and institutional rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of SIS (PLUS/Banner or other) automated software programs
  • Experience in higher education

Other Requirements

  • Work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends

This position generally does not supervise employees.
