We provide a range of services which are accessible, culturally relevant, and responsive to the needs of the diverse Victorian community, including clinical care, education, and training to help build the capacity of educators and health care professionals.

About the role                                                                

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated & experienced Relationships & Sexuality Educator to fulfil a fixed term contract, working 4 days per week to provide education and training services to school and community settings on a statewide basis within both face to face and remote delivery.

The role will suit a professionally minded educator who has a tailored interest in education & advocacy, and models excellence in teaching & learning practices through the provision of exemplary demonstration lessons, mentoring, and coaching of teachers to improve their confidence, skills, knowledge, and effectiveness when delivering relationships and sexuality education programs.

Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

Education & Training

  • Delivery of SHV’s Relationships and Sexuality Education sessions to students of all year levels 
  • Model exemplary classroom practices 
  • Provide professional learning opportunities for education professionals with the aim of improving confidence, knowledge, and skills in delivering RSE
  • Mentor and/or coach teachers and model effective learning practice by supporting teachers to analyse and act on feedback about their current teaching practice through ICPL
  • Provide expert advice about the curriculum content, scope, and sequence, and teaching and learning strategies that will shape individual and school teaching practice, professional learning, and whole-school improvement strategies.

Community & Advocacy

  • Work with external organisations, in both collaborative and advisory roles, to create and refine key documents including policy documents and specialist educational resources
  • Provide learning opportunities for parents and carers (as the principal educators of children and young people) with the aim of improving confidence, knowledge, and skills in discussing relationships and sexuality with their children
  • Liaise with school and community groups as required to confirm and conduct sessions
  • Liaise with schools, parents, and community groups over the phone to assist them to address related sexual health education issues as required.

Research & Evaluation

  • Keeping up to date with current educational practice and issues relating to sexuality education, and legislative changes relating to sex and relationships
  • Accurately record data as scheduled 
  • Evaluate education programs.

About You

Ideally, we are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive experience in working within and with schools and community organisations
  • Demonstrated education and training delivery skills, ideally in delivering relationships and sexuality education (3 years +)
  • Qualified teacher and current VIT registration preferred or an alternative qualification
  • Workplace Training and Assessment Certificate IV (optional)
  • Post Graduate qualifications (desirable)
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and colleagues
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of groups
  • Competence in using video conferencing software such as Zoom & Teams.
