  • Rate of Pay £14.00
  • Relief Ambulift Driver Position
  • Permanent Contract – 8hrs a week minimum
  • Hours of Work – Days/Lates/Nights – Flexibility required to work a fixture of shifts as a relief driver covering short notice and adhoc work
  • Training Provided
  • The role will require you to pass a basic Criminal Record Check / Medical
  • Experience in HGV and operating large vehicles is essential for this role
  • Experience in working in an aviation setting and busy airfield is essential

This role requires flexibility and is being offered at a higher rate of pay due to that. Short notice cover, and the flexibility to cover a variety of shifts is essential, this will include days, nights, evenings and weekends.   • To assist People with Reduced mobility throughout their airport journey
  • Driving of Ambulift hi-lift vehicles airside at Birmingham International Airport
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development

Main Duties

  • To ensure that each vehicle is checked before use, and defects documented as per internal process
  • To organise the most efficient and effective way of transporting several PRM’s (plus one of their companions) to the various aircraft, ensuring on time departures
  • To correctly use a PDA ensuring compliance with time stamping
  • To co-ordinate the boarding / disembarkation of PRM’s onto / off the aircraft from your vehicle or airbridge, liaising with the aircraft dispatcher and cabin crew to ensure smooth passage
  • Overall responsibility for the use of all aspects of the Ambilift vehicle including the tail lift and front platform and their controls
  • Driving of minibus and terminal buggies when required
  • Marshalling of vehicles
  • To report all Accidents / Near Misses
  • To keep the vehicles, clean and tidy of FOD

  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client
  • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents

What we are looking for!Do you have a previous HGV or Hi-lift vehicle driving permit?Have you already got Airport airside driving experience? (preferable but not essential)Do you have a Clean DVLA Driving Licence?Have you got a 5-year checkable work history?
