Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives. Wunan delivers the Remote School Attendance Program in the East Kimberley, in Halls Creek.
Wunan are seeking expressions of interest from job seekers who would like to be employed as a Remote School Attendance Officer (RSAO) in Halls Creek.
Key Duties
- Develop and implement programs and strategies with a focus on local community engagement
- Oversee program case management and referrals
- Lead and mentor the RSAS team
- Model & comply with workplace policies and procedures, including Health and Safety
Requirements of the role
Essential:
- Good written and verbal skills with the ability to build effective and trusting relationships with people internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to work with an appropriate level of discretion, confidentiality, tactfulness, and professionalism
- Work as part of a team in the day to day operations of the activity room.
Desirable criteria:
- Relevant previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Previous working experience in Remote Aboriginal Communities.
- Experience working in community service organisation/s.
Pre-employment requirements include
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
- Current Working with children clearance
- Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
- Department of Education Screening
