Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Requirements Management Engineer to join our Transit & Rail Systems Team to work with multidisciplinary teams delivering an existing portfolio of projects.

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior experience in developing, reviewing, and approving Requirement Management Plans, Verification and Validation Plans, Requirements Traceability Matrices, Conformance Checklists.

  • Prior experience working as part of a requirements management team in managing requirements throughout a project full lifecycle;

  • Prior experience working with designers, suppliers, independent safety assessors, and/or auditors on tasks associated with requirements management, V&V, and evidence-based processes.

  • Able to work as part of a wider engineering team to allocate, analyse, derive, assign attributes, and identify gaps or conflicts;

  • Significant understanding of requirements engineering and the application of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or a similar requirements management tools.

  • Prior experience managing requirements processes from initial customer requirements gathering through final production acceptance.

  • Experience working with Designers, Interface Management and System Assurance Teams to identify Interface requirements and Safety & Security requirements.

  • Produce, and/or review technical specifications for sub-contract suppliers to show compliance to customer requirements.

  • Full understanding of the project V lifecycle as defined by ISO 15288 and/or INCOSE; and the application of the Verification and Validation gate checks when required;

  • Familiar with working with Engineering and System Engineering and Assurance teams, and experience in identifying Safety and Security requirements and link hazards and mitigation evidence.

  • Experience working on Railway Projects and have an excellent understanding of Railway Systems and railway projects lifecycle.

  • Significant requirements management and configuration & change control knowledge and skills.

  • Experience in the setup, training, and maintenance of DOORS and DOORS NG.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside of the project or task organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Develop and manage planning for activities and projects

  • Able to elucidate the discipline of Systems Engineering, its techniques and processes

  • Set up and management of requirements management tools such as DOORS NG, ensure traceability of all project requirements and V&V processes.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Reporting to Requirements Manager and works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Supervises individual or group of junior engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

  • Develop and implement System Engineering plans and processes, and ensuring that project teams operate in accordance with those plans and processes.

Qualifications

*Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline + 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering OR Technical Diploma + 6 years of experience in Systems Engineering OR Highschool + 8 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering in Rail

  • 4+ years experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS / ComplyPro etc.

  • 4+ years experience with projects and their design lifecycles

  • Driving License

*Preferred Qualifications :

  • Used to implement and work under the principles of following standards: IEEE 1220, ISO 15288 + 24748 + 29148: Systems Engineering Life Cycle processes & Requirements management.

  • INCOSE ASEP certified

  • Familiarity with EN50126 and FTA SCC

  • 12 years’ experience is ideal in Systems Engineering

  • Project Management such as PRINCE2 or PMP
