Rehabilitative Services – Outpatient

Job Summary
The Rehabilitative Services Aide reports to the therapists of a particular service and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. At this level, the employee is responsible for the treatment of patients who require the direct supervision and daily guidance of an occupational, physical, and/or speech therapist.
Works primarily with adult, geriatric, and adolescent patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric patients may be treated. Actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services, and staff development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Prior clinical base experience requiring interaction with patients
- High School diploma; or equivalent experience
- Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR Certification
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress.
- Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication
- Possession of excellent interpersonal time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills
- The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior outpatient patient care experience working with sports medicine, orthopedic and neurologic patients in an interdisciplinary team
- Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment
- Advanced certifications such as ATC, CSCS, or other relevant professional certification
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of rehab equipment including modalities, Alter-G, BTE, TRX, treadmill, body weight harness
- College degree in a related field
- Ability to use Excel
