About Position
The post holder will contribute to MYMarket efforts to improve the social aspects of our financial inclusion work. The latter includes gender equality with a strong focus on women and youths together with improved diets for young children based on improvements within the fisheries sector in Myanmar. The work will ensure that interventions by the MYMarket Myanmar project result in benefits for women youths and children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) advice to WorldFish and Partner organisation staff working on the LIFT funded MYMarket project.
- Ensure that beneficiary groups understand why GESI is important in the small-scale aquaculture and fish value chain contexts.
- Provide social awareness training as required to farmer and value chain operatives.
- Interact with WorldFish and Partner organisations during climate smart aquaculture training sessions to emphasize the potential role of women.
- Assist with women and youths’ access to credit, either cash loans or in-kind, and examine the most effective financial services options for women.
- Advise local authorities about the importance of GESI and where necessary give training.
- Assist with the development of new WorldFish work proposals by incorporating GESI aspects.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social science or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience of which at least 1 year in an international non-profit organization.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams applications.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in Burmese.
- Strong sense of professionalism, business ethics and integrity.
- Dynamic, outgoing and confident personal qualities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Has worked for or related to donor funded projects.
- Experience working with Government Institutions in Myanmar.
- Ability to translate documents and conduct informal interpretation from Myanmar into English and vice-versa.
- Ability to multitask, work with limited supervision and take initiatives.
Benefits
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position and WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, employer provident fund contribution, paid leave and others. The duration of the contract will initially be for a six months period with possibility for extension, depending on funding and performance.
