The Research and Innovation Officer will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and support to College researchers and key stakeholders to advance the research agenda of the College. The incumbent will focus on enhancing external research income, facilitating grant applications, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. This role will actively contribute to the strategic objectives of the College by fostering research excellence and facilitating successful research outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-level advice and guidance to College researchers on research funding opportunities, grant applications, and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Monitoring changes in government and grant body policies impacting research income and advise on necessary actions.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to support the execution of the College’s research strategic plan in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Coordinating and reporting on research funding initiatives, ensuring budgetary objectives are met.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate research endeavours and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Representing the College on committees and working groups related to research advancement.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level until and will be based at Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land)

  • A degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience or extensive experience and management expertise in research administration or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Australian higher education sector research and innovation landscape.
  • Proven capacity to develop and implement plans to achieve defined outcomes including the ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high-level research, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build effective relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build external research partnerships to identify research funding opportunities and achieve positive outcomes for the College.
  • The successful applicant must be willing to undertake a National Police Check.
