Duties and Responsibilities
It is a home-based assignment and under the supervision of the Managing Director, the incumbent will undertake following tasks, Knowledge Management 1.Review knowledge management strategies of UN and comparable institutions and make recommendations for an appropriate approach for UN TBLDC. 2.Following the (1) above and consultations with UNTBLDC staff, prepare a draft Knowledge Management Strategy for UN TBLDC. 3.Consolidate the feedback from the staff and other stakeholders and finalize a Knowledge Management Strategy for UN TBLDC. Research and Content Management 4.Review the current research documents, experiences and projects undertaken by UN TBLDC with a view to categorizing and making them available on the organization’s website. 5.Review content of ongoing completed work of UN TBLDC such as the Technology Needs Assessment and prepare best practice summaries for placement on a database to share with other countries and institutions as required.
6.Research and create a list of comparable databases and institutions (regional and international) working in the science, technology and innovation space. 7.Research and create a list of centers of excellence, databases and websites with information related to best practices and expertise in the STI area. 8.Experts’ Roster Preparation: Research and identify leading national, regional and international experts in priority areas for LDC transformation including: (i) AgTech or leveraging technology in agriculture (ii) Digitalization of the Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) Sector (iii) Green Economy Transition (iv) Strengthening national policy for innovation and technology including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. 9.Based on (4) – (8) above, prepare relevant content and rosters for uploading on UN TBLDC’s website/database as applicable. 10.Undertake any other task as required for successful completion of the assignment.
Qualifications/special skills
Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Social Sciences, Research, Knowledge Management, or related area required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Five years of experience in knowledge management and/or research, preferably within an international organization is required. Strong writing and editing skills, attention to conceptual accuracy and use of proper terminology is required. 5 years of experience in developing knowledge management strategy documents with clear implementation plans and key milestones is required.
