Position Summary:

The research lab of Prof Frigon is seeking a research assistant in the area of environmental engineering, with a focus on environmental virology and bacteriology, molecular methods for analysis for pathogens. The research assistant will work on projects related to the detection and sequencing of viral and bacterial pathogens in wastewater, the establishment of new molecular assays, and analysis of molecular data using bioinformatic approaches. The following task will be conducted by the research assistant:
– Conducting research projects using established protocols, processes and procedures and with minimal.
– Performing field sampling.
– Performing molecular analyses in the lab, and ensuring the quality of the results.
– Presenting results orally to the research team for comments and evaluation.
– Writing theoretical and methodological reports on the findings and related recommendations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is required to possess a BEng/BSc degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, microbiology, or a related field.

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a molecular biology and microbiology laboratory, and have specific experience with wastewater samples and wastewater-based microbiological surveillance systems.
