Working in a multi-disciplinary team of wet-lab and dry-lab scientist, the Research Assistant will investigate the mechanisms of diffuse glioma initiation and progression, and aim to identify new therapeutic approaches. To do so, the Research Assistant will use molecular biology techniques, cell culture systems, and genetically engineered mouse models to study different types of brain tumors, and identify and validate therapeutic targets.

The Research Assistant will be expected to participate in various projects in the lab, and to assist trainees with parts of their studies. This will involve designing and performing experiments, and helping with the general organization and day-to-day operations of the laboratory. The Research Assistant will also have opportunities to lead projects. They should show autonomy in their ability to design and implement research plans, and be able to write and present reports of the experimental results. They will be expected to work closely with dry-lab scientists to integrate wet-lab experimental results with computational analyses.

  • Experience with common molecular and cellular biology techniques (for example: cell culture, PCR, western blotting, DNA/RNA/protein extraction and analysis, etc.).
  • Experience with handling mice is an asset, but willingness to learn is essential.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
