This position will work approximately 5-15 hours per week. The position is remote, part-time, and is anticipated to last approximately twelve months.

This project investigates South Korea’s strategic use of industrial policy and technological innovation to strengthen its economic resilience and geopolitical influence. By focusing on key sectors like semiconductors, batteries, and space/aerospace, as well as technology designed to aid aging societies, the research aims to assess how these advancements contribute to South Korea’s foreign policymaking, economic wellbeing, and its standing in global affairs. The project will also provide policy recommendations for enhancing Korea’s competitiveness in the face of regional and international pressures.

The research assistant’s responsibilities include supporting literature reviews and conducting a mix of qualitative and quantitative research, including compiling data on economic and industry trends. They will help organize expert interviews and meetings and perform administrative tasks as assigned to facilitate project execution.

Candidates should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with the ability to perform interdisciplinary research and analysis. Familiarity with South Korea’s foreign policy or political economy would be an asset. Applicants must be self-starters with excellent attention to detail, be able to work independently, adapt quickly, possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and be able to start quickly.

The selected candidate will be paid approximately $26-30 per hour depending on experience and level of education.
