Job Description

A Research Assistant/Associate position is immediately available for a highly motivated applicant to join the laboratory of Dr. Roshni R. Singaraja at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, National University of Singapore.

The successful applicant will have a passion for science, have a creative and inquisitive mind, display outstanding attention to detail, and work in an innovative, fast-paced, enthusiastic and highly collaborative environment to determine the basis of cardiometabolic disease. The successful candidate will participate actively in the design and execution of various projects, as well as assist lab members in their research projects, and provide infrastructure support such as procurement and inventory control for the laboratory.

The successful applicant is expected to have a strong background in mouse phenotyping, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell culture.

Responsibilities

 

  • Performing research, analyzing and presenting data
  • Working with mouse models and mouse phenotyping. Experience with Cardiovascular and diabetes models is an asset.
  • Protein biochemistry (Co-immunoprecipitation, affinity purification)
  • Tissue culture, imaging and immunofluorescence
  • Gene expression analysis (RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR, Western blotting)
  • Lab management and procurement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Life Sciences with more than 2 years of work experience
  • Excellent analytical, technical and problem solving skills
  • Creative, driven, don’t take no for an answer attitude
  • Highly collaborative, and motivated to support the research team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail
  • Experienced in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and tissue culture techniques
     

 

The position is full-time for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of contract renewal.
