The mission at the Unit of Systems Toxicology is to perform top quality research to understand how different environmental exposures affect human wellbeing, focusing on the impact of chemicals and microbes on epithelial barrier function and immunity, and development. We work with experimental and bioinformatics models and methods, including cells, tissues, zebrafish, and different omics analysis. We are now recruiting a Research Assistant who will work with Associate Professor Emma Wincent in a in an EU-HORIZON project related to health effects of indoor and outdoor air quality.
Your mission
The project is centered upon identifying the impact of chemcials and different indoor and outdoor environments on cell viability, immune signaling, and cell metabolism using a range of in vitro based cell cultures as experimental models. The employment is temporary for 12 months and the expected starting date is latest June 2024.
Your profile
We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated individual. Requirements for the position include a master’s degree in toxicology, cell biology or similar, hands-on experience of working with 2D cell cultures as well as performing toxicity assessment with such cultures, including different cell viability and cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, and gene expression analysis is required. Practical experience in working with epithelial organoids or other advanced 3D cell cultures as experimental models is considered advantageous.
The candidate must be able to work within a team of scientists from different disciplines and nationalities, and fluency in English, both written and oral, is a requirement.
Qualified to be employed as a research assistant is one who has obtained a master’s degree latest at the start of the employment. Applicants who have not completed a master’s degree at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant’s master program director, study director or equivalent.
