About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Research Assistant to join the dynamic team at the Rogerson laboratory within the Department of Infectious Diseases at the prestigious Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. You will have the chance to work alongside Prof Rogerson and other talented researchers, contributing to groundbreaking studies focused on functional antibody immunity in malaria. This role offers a unique chance to refine laboratory techniques, collaborate closely with team members, and make meaningful contributions to the field of infectious diseases. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking laboratory related tasks including culturing malaria parasites and relevant cell lines and performing ELISAs and multiplex assays to measure antibody to malaria proteins.
  • Developing expertise in flow cytometry techniques relevant to the study of malaria immunity.
  • Assisting with training of new and existing students and laboratory visitors in techniques and in safe laboratory practice.

Who We Are Looking For
We’re seeking individuals with strong interpersonal skills, adept at collaborating in teams and working independently. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional communication, accuracy in data collection, and adept multitasking abilities.

You will also have:

  • A BSc (Hons) or MSc or equivalent in biological sciences or biomedical sciences and research experience in a relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience in Malaria parasite culture and assays to measure antibody to malaria antigens on one or more platforms
  • High level of research ethical behaviour
