The research at the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric Surgery, KBH is broad and ranges from preclinical research in animal models, patient oriented clinical research, nursing research and registry studies. The division has also developed collaborations with strong networks within cancer research at KI. This provides unique opportunities for innovative collaborations to develop treatments and care for children with cancer. The research groups in pediatric oncology have a very strong position nationally and internationally.
Dr. Anna Nilsson’s laboratory focuses on studying the effects of cancer treatment on children’s immune systems in the short and long term. Many of the studies concern adaptive immunity after vaccinations and how this is affected by childhood cancer.
Your mission
We are looking for a motivated and committed research assistant for a project in childhood cancer. The project will mainly focus on how treatment for leukemia affects children’s immunological memory, where mainly studies concerning T cell memory are ongoing.Duties include planning experiments, performing laboratory work including cultivation of primary cells, handling patient material, flow cytometry and other immunological methods, analyzing and presenting data and helping to write scientific articles.
Your profile
The applicant must be structured and thorough, and able to communicate clearly and effectively in speech and writing. You must be able to work efficiently and independently. In addition, we would like the applicant to have some knowledge and experience in cell biology and oncology. Good cooperation skills are a requirement.
Eligibility requirements
You must have a university education in biology, molecular biology or a similar subject and an understanding of cell biology and preclinical research.Meritorious, but not required: • Master’s degree.• Previous experience with one/some of the methods described above. An attractive candidate should also have good experience of laboratory work, particularly merited are experience with qRT-PCR, FACS, western blot, immunfluoroscens, immunhistokemi. In addition, we would like applicants to have solid experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as familiarity with GraphPad Prism.The working language is English, and the applicant is expected to be proficient in both spoken and written English. The work makes high demands on accuracy, planning skills and a structured way of working. A genuine interest in research, good collaboration and communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team are important for this position. We are looking for a responsible and enterprising person and attach great importance to personal suitability.
