About the Role
The Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences is recruiting a research assistant to contribute to social psychology research, particularly in examining the validity of published findings. Reporting to Professor Simine Vazire, the role involves conducting research projects, analysing data, and collaborating on research reports for publication. Candidates with statistical expertise, communication skills, and an interest in social psychology and research integrity are encouraged to apply.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing research support within the context of the project, independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Contributing to literature reviews, summarizing key articles and searching for other related articles.
  • Collecting data, including running participants in the lab, administering online studies, and coding articles for meta-analyses.
  • Process data and help with data analyses.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong research skills, proficiency in statistical analysis, and a keen interest in psychological research methods. They should excel both independently and within a team, with excellent communication and organisational abilities.

You will also have:

  • Undergraduate study (Bachelors degree may be in progress) in an area of psychology, metascience, or cognate discipline.
  • Strong interests related to research methods in psychology, statistical inference, and scientific/critical thinking.
  • Experience with collecting, processing, and analysing data, preferably in the R programming language.
