Offer Description

The Center for Research on Sustainability and Transformation (CREST) at Europa-Universität Flensburg seeks to fill the following fixed-term position in the field of sustainability and transformation research by May 1, 2024:

Research Associate (d/m/w) (PostDoc)

This is a one-year position. The contract may be extended by an additional six months, upon successful completion of the job duties.

The core focus of this position is to develop and submit a proposal within the framework of a funding program of the German Research Foundation DFG (e.g. grants in kind, international calls, Emmy Noether Program) or the EU research framework program Horizon Europe (e.g. Global Challenges, European Research Council Grants). Through this start-up funding, EUF aims to promote and support early-stage researchers by giving them access to special qualification and employment opportunities. This position is part of a separate post-doc program at EUF.

Applications are open to academics with research experience in the field of interdisciplinary sustainability and transformation research. In particular, researchers with an interest in the main research areas and represented disciplines of the Center for Research on Sustainability and Transformation (CREST) are invited to apply.

CREST is EUF’s third flagship research center. Currently under development, center addresses topics related to transformation and sustainability through the lens of science and engineering as well as the social sciences and humanities, with an underlying focus on problems, processes, solutions and implementations. Guiding but not exclusive thematic clusters include: Lifestyles and Basic Needs; Education, Knowledge, Emotions; Energy, Material Flows, and Natural Resources; Economic Transformation and Post-Growth; Anthropology and Technology; Governance and Empowerment; Spaces and Spacial Interdependencies; Human-Nature Relationships and Hierarchizations.
