About the Role
The Research Associate/Fellow will assist in leading the design and execution of the research project and may assist in leading students involved in the research Project, according to the University’s policies, practices and standards. The incumbent will report on current research related to the research program, contribute to generation of high-quality publications and conference presentations. In addition, the position will contribute to the preparation of applications for externally funded research funding.
You will undertake research in the Respiratory and Dust Diseases Associated Research Group (RADDAR), under the broad direction of the Chief Investigator. The position will contribute to project design and implementation, the analysis of data and the preparation of manuscripts for publication. The incumbent will actively report on new and current research related to the research program, through generation of high-quality publications and conference presentations. In addition, the position will contribute to the preparation of applications for externally funded research funding. The Research Associate/Fellow will be responsible for the supervision of research assistants and students (including honours and PhD) within the RADDAR group where appropriate. Co-ordination of the consumer engagement, as relevant to the RADDAR group, will fall under the purview of this role. This role has supervisory roles with regards to research assistants and students. A hands-on approach is a requirement of this role, with the ability to coordinate projects and complete laboratory work.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Completion of a PhD in biomedical sciences/medical research/cancer immunology or a closely related field or significant progress towards completion of a PhD in biomedical sciences/medical research/cancer immunology or a closely related field. Bioinformatics applicants will be considered.

Research experience in terms of publications in high quality publications, attraction of external competitive grants and presentations at a national and/or international level in relevant area

Expertise in undertaking collaborative research and establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff and industry

Experience with consumer engagement as relevant to medical research

Ability to critically review the literature in relevant fields.
