Job description
We are looking for a member of the team with track record and experience in neural tissue engineering, axonal biology, microfabrication and live imaging microscopy to advance a number of research projects within the lab and co-manage with the PI different aspects of the lab organisation.
Successful candidates will have at least a PhD in a relevant field and a minimum of 1 year postdoc experience in a research lab with projects focused on neurobiology and neuroengineering.
Amongst other things the role will include leading research projects, managing different aspects of the lab activities in collaboration with the PI, supporting grant writing and training of staff and students and managing collaborations with external labs and partners.
The post will be linked to a BBSRC project and a DRI funded programme and will require working in the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience in the Maurice Wohl Clinical Neuroscience Institute and the Francis Crick Institute.
This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract from 1st March 2024 to 31 July 2025
This is a full- time post – 100% full time equivalent

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
1. PhD in Neurobiology with clear track record of engineering and microfabrication.
2. Extensive experience in stem cell differentiation applied to neuroscience and neurodegeneration
3. Ability to work independently and within a team
4. Ability to supervise constructively junior colleagues (e.g. MSc students, PhD Students) and show leadership
5. Proven Track record of publications in neurobiology and microfabrication
6. Extensive Experience with live imaging systems and set up of novel imaging methods
7. Extensive experience with microfabrication and design of devices applied to cell culture
8. Knowledge of axonal biology
9. Knowledge of molecular neurodegeneration
Desirable criteria
1. Comfortable managing different projects
2. Track record of managing collaborations and students
3. Willingness to contribute to grant writing
