You will join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.Working at UKCEH is rewarding. The ideal candidate will have experience handling scientific data sets and will participate in various projects that quantify air pollution and its effects on the environment and human health. You’ll be part of a 6-person team and collaborate more widely with both internal teams and external partners, using your innovative skills to advance and promote our work.A solid foundation in data analysis is essential, and familiarity with agriculture and/or air pollution would be an advantage. You should possess strong scientific numeracy skills, attention to detail, a creative approach to problem-solving, and a desire for continuous learning.   • Develop efficient, reproducible workflows to integrate and analyse complex spatial datasets (preferably using R)
  • To take an active part in the team’s projects, on spatial emission inventories, atmospheric pollution, assessment of pollution mitigation measures and their impact on sensitive vegetation and human health
  • To contribute to and/or lead on presentations, reports, datasets and scientific articles for publication and stakeholder interaction

We are passionate about developing you and this role includes a 3-year UKCEH Research Associate training program. This will offer you the opportunity to gain additional training and development to support you in your new role and will run parallel with the delivery of your work.For the role of Research Associate Spatial Data Analyst we’re looking for somebody who has:

  • A degree (2:1 BSc or MSc) or equivalent, with a scientific background, preferably environmental science, geography or agriculture
  • Experience with data manipulation tools and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Experience with coding such as R would be desirable for the role
