Position Summary | · Supervises all hydrology field research activities conducted by faculty and all graduate students at the university’s Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research. May recruit, train, and mentor assigned staff. · Manages and coordinates all drilling activities as well as post-drilling operations such as core analyses, drilling of wells, and the management of main activities needed to get drilling to occur. Contracts with drillers, assists with creating contracts, handles all communication with contractor(s), and oversees operations to ensure activities are being performed as anticipated, including making certain deliverables are being met as described. · Assists in performing numerical groundwater modeling of utility well fields in compliance with EPA and State of TN regulations; maintains operational functionality to support center activities. · Manages operation and maintenance of the borehole geophysical instrument and analysis tools. · Writes grants to obtain external funding to support the Center’s research agenda. This includes agencies such as the National Science Foundation and others. Research dollars will also be sought to support graduate, post-doc salaries. |
Minimum Position Qualifications | Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field is required. Must have at least 12 months of experience as a civil engineer, hydrologist, environmental engineer, civil engineering graduate assistant, or related occupation. |
