About this opportunity

A rare opportunity exists for a motivated professional in this role at OHV, a leader in specialist alcohol and other drugs treatment. The central purpose of the Research Coordinator role is to further develop and support a culture within our organisation that more effectively links and promotes research with clinical practice, promoting evidence-based practice. It is intended to assist OHV to explore new treatment models and build research skills, within our teams with a particular focus on evaluations. The opportunity to lead and publish research according to the interests and skills of the successful candidate is encouraged.

The role will have a good level of autonomy and flexibility to develop the position working closely with senior management and clinicians. It will have access to an existing network of peers to share insights and resources. OHV has established relationships with Victoria’s leading universities and a working partnership with senior academics at Deakin University. Candidates with research experience within the AOD sector, strong links to relevant organisations, and a good publication record, will be highly regarded!

A week in the life would include:

  • Monitoring and contributing to existing research across OHV.
  • Leading the Research Working Group to manage research requests.
  • Keeping senior management informed about all research projects OHV engages in.
  • Collaborating with OHV teams to support program evaluations and progressing the program evaluation template.
  • Meeting with senior management to discuss the organisational research framework and recommending an annual research theme.
  • Liaising with peers.
  • Researching key developments in effective treatment techniques.
  • Communicating gaps in the research to university partners and recommending thesis topics to students.
  • Participating in the OHV/Deakin partnership group and the Policy and Practice Board sub-committee.
  • Assisting staff with research, conference presentations and resource development.

Key Selection Criteria

We are looking for an experienced individual to be responsible for ensuring research oversight, supporting organisation-wide research translation initiatives and facilitating a strategic approach to research and evaluation activities.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A relevant higher degree qualification in a health services or research field (e.g. Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, Biostatistics)
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research and evaluation activities such as literature reviews, end-to-end study design, publication and grant writing, consultations and/or experience in translating research evidence into practice.
  • Experience of developing and utilising both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including ethical considerations.
  • Significant experience in data analysis and intermediate statistical skills including the use of statistical packages (e.g. STATA).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure the oversight of all research and evaluation activities across the organisation and communicate this to senior management.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Commitment to quality, attention to detail, timeliness and working autonomously and in a team environment.

In line with OHV’s Mandatory Vaccination Policy, all Odyssey House Victoria staff are required to hold Fully Vaccinated (Boosted) status, having also received the Booster Vaccination. Evidence of this minimum of three (3) COVID-19 vaccinations will be requested during the onboarding process and offers will be rescinded where such evidence cannot be provided.

All Odyssey House Victoria sites are smoke-free for all employees.
