This pivotal role involves managing projects, facilitating team communication, organizing meetings, handling metric and data collection, preparing reports, and supporting grant proposals. The Citizen Scientist Coordinator will serve as a crucial liaison between various stakeholder groups at the University of Florida, statewide, and nationally. Responsibilities include maintaining strong relationships with investigators, community organizations, advisory boards, and OneFlorida+ partner sites, ensuring seamless collaboration in research studies. The selected candidate will orchestrate and oversee multifaceted projects, streamline team communication, meticulously coordinate meetings, craft comprehensive meeting agendas and minutes, proficiently manage metrics and data collection, compile insightful reports, and provide invaluable support for grant proposals and research dissemination efforts. Serving as a linchpin between various stakeholder groups at the University of Florida, statewide and nationally, the Citizen Scientist Coordinator will be instrumental in fostering robust relationships with investigators, community organizations, advisory boards, and OneFlorida+ partner sites statewide. This collaborative approach will facilitate the seamless integration of diverse stakeholders into research studies. Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills are imperative, along with the ability to adapt language and communication strategies adeptly for diverse audiences. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward a transformative agenda, ensuring that the Citizen Scientist Program remains at the forefront of progressive and inclusive health research practices. Duties to Include: Program Coordination -Responsible for facilitating and coordinating the Citizen Scientist Program for OneFlorida+, CTSI, and the UFHCC, with a particular focus on building relationships with local and national stakeholders and the local community. Includes responsibilities for Citizen Scientist recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing facilitation of their work. -Meet with potential investigators from UF Colleges and Institutes regarding obtaining Citizen Scientist recommendations and/or collaboration about potential proposals or funded projects for fit, feasibility, and implementation from a Citizen Scientist’s perspective. Provide guidance to potential investigators about preparing materials for review and discussion for the meetings with the program group. Provide information to staff, faculty, and other collaborators about resources for the development of patient-engaged research. -Facilitate meetings among researchers and Citizen Scientists to foster relationship-building and collaboration and promote patient and stakeholder-engaged research. -Facilitate intake, meetings, coordination, and Citizen Scientist participation for the UFHCC Investigator-Initiated Trial Think Tank (I2T3) group and Scientific Review and Monitoring Committee (SRMC). -Maintain a high level of professionalism during meetings and in group settings with PIs, staff, funding agency personnel, and visitors. Oversee the creation of agendas for such meetings and follow-up communications (e.g., Action Item summaries). -Able to act independently as a high-level representative for all Citizen Scientist Program activities with partners, sponsors, and funders. This includes making recommendations to UFHCC, CTSI, and OneFlorida+ leadership regarding study development and involvement, implementation, staffing, and budgets. Tracks and monitors the progress of Citizen Scientist engagement for OneFlorida+ and CTSI, and UFHCC review and identifies opportunities to expand engagement. -Manages resolution of problem-solving for issues arising from the conduct of the program and its studies. Conducts day-to-day management of program activities, including monitoring project timelines, deadlines, reports, and communication with study-related staff, faculty, sponsors, and community participants. -Interface with study teams to provide coordination and oversight of the program’s involvement, will report on metrics and work with study teams to intervene and address barriers Education and Communication -Provide opportunities for investigators to engage with community stakeholders. -Provide education and training for investigators, staff, students, sponsors, and stakeholders on the importance and value of patient and stakeholder engagement and the variety of approaches to engaging patient and stakeholder partners in research. -Provide ongoing input, information, and materials to support internal and external communication efforts about the program and opportunities available. Participate in community events and public functions. -Provide training to Citizen Scientist members. Provide education to UF researchers about engagement with the Citizen Scientist program Daily Operations and Project Tracking -Assist in developing programmatic refinements by defining program goals and metrics in collaboration with evaluation experts from the UFHCC, OneFlorida+ and the CTSI. -Track all projects that receive support through the program, including protocols reviewed, program participants, and their roles in projects. – Adheres to departmental and institutional processes and procedures -Documents, updates, and maintains data files and databases. Other Duties as Assigned Other duties as assigned, can include coordination of travel arrangements and documentation; initiation and tracking of purchase requisitions; initiation of job postings and administrative conduct of search proceedings; maintenance text of websites and other information repositories in strict conformance to team standards |
Expected Salary: | $50,000 – $58,000 |
Minimum Requirements: | Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: | -Master’s degree required in Social/Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Services Research, or a related field – Two years’ experience in working within and/or conducting community-based health care projects. -Ability to handle protected health information and human subject issues -Skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, email (Outlook), and Project Management Software. -Experience working in REDCap, Qualtrics, WordPress, and EPIC -Knowledge of IRB processes-Ability to interpret basic statistical results -Ability to work with investigators to draft project proposals and plans, manuscripts for publication in peer-review journals, and project reports -Excellent written and oral communication skills. |
