Overview
The 2D Materials and Devices Research Group (2DMD) focuses on CVD growth, transfer, and device fabrication, using 2D materials, clean-room technology, and Raman imaging for structural characterisation.
We are looking for a qualified Research Engineer to join our team in the Lab-on-a-chip device for bacteria and AMR genes detection project for the Smartgnostics Agenda, under the PRR framework.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
- Develop new technology for graphene dry transfer;
- Study molecular intercalation between native copper and graphene, enabling clean transfer;
- Develop a cleanroom microfabrication process for graphene devices on polyimide;
- Design and 3D-print components for multiplex sample delivery assembled with graphene chips;
- Use metrology tools like a profilometer, optical microscopes, probe station, and Raman spectroscopy system.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- MSc degree in Engineering Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
Experience
- 2D materials transfer and processing;
- Cleanroom mask design and transfer;
- Expertise in packaging, namely pick-and-place flip-chip components and wire-bonding.
Technical Skills
- 3D printing using SLA printers;
- Electrical (4-pt resistance measurements) and structural characterisation techniques (i.e., Raman and XRD).
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical characterisation at the wafer scale and packaging.
Personal Skills
- “Hands-on” approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines;
- Problem Solving ability;
- Customer orientation;
- Ability to work independently and as team player;
- Good communication skills.
