Research Engineer I (Robot Perception and Navigation)

A Research Engineer position is available in the area of robot system integration and testing to enhance the technology readiness level and demonstrate the commercial viability for the project on “Last Mile Delivery Robot”.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. Danwei Wang and a group of Research Fellows, Research Associates, and Ph.D./Masters/Bachelors students in the school of EEE at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform implementation of an all-in-one system of last mile delivery robot which integrates all modules of perception and navigation

  • Solve challenges in software modules such as perception, mapping, decision-making and navigation, and improve their efficiency

  • Conduct tests on the delivery robot platform and prepare demos that effectively showcase its functionalities

  • Compose various technical documents to facilitate understanding and usage of the system by other team members or clients

  • Other engineering support on hardware and software

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor/Master degree in automatic control, robotics, etc

  • Strong skills in C++, Matlab, Linux, and experience with ROS, and code management tools (git)

  • Familiar with the perception, mapping, decision-making, and navigation modules of robots

  • Have relevant work experience in integration of different modules to form a complete robot perception and navigation system.

  • Possess the ability to address software and hardware integration issues, capable of quickly and accurately identifying and resolving faults

  • Possess excellent engineering skills and proficient at delivering high-quality demos to meet specified requirements

  • Experience with real-world robot system design and integration

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Experience in projects related to autonomous mobile robots preferred
