Offer Description
Development of a specific 3D measurement sensor for a healthy foot.
Optimization of stimulation electrodes for the cochlea
The candidate will be in charge of manufacturing and optimizing prototypes for the Piéouté project, combining approach measurement with sliding measurement (a 3-axis pixel). Simulation work will be required to optimize electrode overlap and hence the sensitivity of capacitive sensors. The candidate will also work on the manufacture and optimization of the stimulation electrode coupled with polymer actuators for the Robocop project. The candidate will carry out insertion tests on 3D-printed medium and large cochleas. The candidate will liaise with project partners LAMIH, LPPI, Inria Lille, Institut Pasteur.
The candidate will join the Piéouté and Robocop projects. The Piéouté project aims to develop an instrumented ‘sock’ to characterize the movement and position of the foot in a shoe when walking/running uphill/downhill. The originality of this interdisciplinary project lies both in the use of microtechnologies to manufacture the distributed sensor device integrated into a fine and flexible structure and in obtaining information on contact or not and/or sliding. of the foot in the shoe by combining on-board electronics. The Robocop project aims to make a cochlear implant active by associating actuators with it. The stimulation electrode is then revisited: it is made of a thin layer (polyimide) coupled with 20 gold electrodes.
The position is to be filled on February 1, 2024 for a period of 16 months. The research work will be carried out on the IEMN Villeneuve d’Ascq site, travel will be expected at the IEMN Valenciennes. The candidate will work in a state-of-the-art clean room environment and will have full access to the laboratory’s micro & nanofabrication platform (https://www.iemn.fr/plates-formes/cmnf/equipements ) . She/He will work in the Bioinspired MEMS team in close collaboration with experts in micro-technologies.
