An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Ethics Governance and Integrity Manager to join the Governance, Risk and Compliance department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the position

The Ethics, Governance and Integrity Team sits within the Governance, Risk and Compliance Department which in addition includes corporate counsel, privacy officer, risk, policy and archives, project management and administration. The head of department also acts as the Company Secretary.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant qualification/s such as scientific research, law, health or ethics and at least five years’ experience working in research ethics.
  • A proven and thorough understanding of the governance, ethics and compliance frameworks that apply to animal and human research.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective compliance and governance systems to support compliance.
  • Experience in developing quality assurance systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to relate to colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent time management and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and rectify issues.
  • Confidentiality, discretion, sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide team leadership while acknowledging everyone’s contribution to the shared endeavour.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with other service departments in an effective and collegiate manner.
  • Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and ability to work within WEHI’s values.

Terms of appointment

This position is a parental leave position, available until the end of 2024 in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee (PSE) Level 9 ($128,618 – $139,222). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
