This internship is ideal for someone who is passionate about European and international relations and policy, enjoys engaging with people, and would like to gain experience in research, reporting and event coordination in a policy think tank environment. As part of this internship you will be given the opportunity to work across a range of projects, under the supervision of a senior policy analyst.

What will you be doing?

In terms of research, you will:

  • Assist in qualitative and desk-based research on European foreign policy and international cooperation, peace and security, migration, democracy and governance and development policy;
  • Follow key policy processes and developments, share and summarise policy documents, set up interviews, take notes, and contribute background material for policy briefings and social media outreach;
  • Support the preparation of analytical outputs, including drafting or editing sections of commentaries, policy papers or reports (under close supervision);
  • Help prepare presentations and training materials for external stakeholders;
  • Keep track of key developments in relevant EU, AU and Global policy processes;
  • Attend conferences or webinars and report back to the team.

In terms of event organisation and management, you will:

  • Assist in planning and organising policy dialogues, workshops and roundtables;
  • Help with logistics and communication around events;
  • Provide on-site or virtual support during events, including room preparation, registration, note-taking, reporting and clearing and resetting the space.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned depending on your interests and the needs of other ECDPM teams.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate:

  • Is eligible for Erasmus+ funding;
  • Is currently enrolled in or has recently graduated from a relevant field (e.g. International Relations, Political Science, Conflict Studies, EU Studies, Development Studies, etc.);
  • Has excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal). French is desirable but not essential;
  • Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Can work independently and proactively, but also enjoys being part of a small and collaborative team;
  • Has a good command of MS Office tools and google workspace (as an advantage).
