icddr,b is an international health research institute based in Bangladesh. It strives to solve important public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation.

The Maternal and Child Health division of icddr,b offers a fellowship programme (Research Fellow) for individuals who are interested in developing a career in public health research and currently in the formative stage.

The Research Fellow will work under direct supervision of eminent public health researchers and receive hands-on training, exposure, experience at icddr,b. The fellowship programme is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and performance of the individuals to become an independent researcher at icddr,b.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Research Fellow will be reporting to the PI or delegate. The fellow is expected to contribute in public health under the guidance of the PI. Some of the specific responsibilities may include (assist the PI in):
  • Conduct literature review;
  • Analyze data;
  • Draft concept notes, protocols, reports and manuscript;
  • Prepare and deliver presentations;
  • Support in project coordination and implementation;
  • Assist in budgeting and financial management.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Young, bright individuals who meet the following criteria and are aspiring to develop their career as public health researchers at icddr,b are encouraged to apply.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Public Health/Social Science/ Statistics/Applied Statistics/Biostatistics/Epidemiology/Health Economics from a reputed institute with excellent academic records;
  • Outstanding academic results (at least 3.5 out of 4 scales both in Bachelor and Masters) from reputed universities enlisted by University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC));
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English;
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills, ability to identify substantive problems and creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
