Research Fellow (Photonics)

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. The research fellow will work on a project to conduct the research and coordination on Van der Waals Engineering for all-optical neuromorphic chip.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and fabrication of van der Waals heterojunctions.

• Build up optical characterization setup and perform device characterization.

• Characterization of semiconductor materials.

• Perform the measurement of optoelectronic device.

• Conduct the defect testing of the semiconductor materials.

• Collect and analyze the experimental data.

• Manuscript preparation.

• Work with the team members and help to prepare reports related to the project.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or other related background.

• More than 3-years relevant research experience in synthesis and characterization of 2D materials and van der Waals heterojunctions.

• Experience in van der Waals heterojunctions design and device fabrication.

• Familiarity and direct experience in optoelectronic characterization related system and measurement.

• Experience of the photonics device fabrication in clean room.

• Substantial knowledge in on-chip photonics devices and architectures for all-optical neuromorphic computing.

• A desire to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

• Self-motivated and good tasks initiative.  

• Excellent communication and writing in English.

• Good Publication Tracking Record.
