Overview
Global energy demand for information and communication technologies may reach up to 20% of total energy by the end of the decade. Innovations on transistor technologies, following Moore’s law, can, in part, compensate for this rise and improve sustainability by providing more energy-efficient electronics.To sustain miniaturisation, and improve performance of electronics, new transistor technologies are needed that can overcome this limit.
This project will develop a scalable Dirac transistor technology based on large area integration of 2D and 3D Dirac materials (e.g., graphene and CoSi), and the realisation of high-performance device demonstrators at technologically relevant length scales.
In this project, the Atomic Structure-Composition of Materials research group is dedicated to understand the role of interfaces and defects in Dirac semimetal/semiconductor systems, via advanced transmission electron microscopy studies and correlations with device data and models.
We are looking for a qualified Research Fellow to join our team and focus on advanced electron microscopy of 2D materials under the project HORIZON-RIA – AttoSwitch, with the code 101135571.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
- Contributing towards conducting and producing high quality original research with other colleagues, following the objectives of the aforementioned project;
- Using aberration corrected TEM/STEM coupled with EDS and EELS to determine the structure, composition, atomic electric field and charge distribution of both mono- and multilayer structures;
- Compounding research activities and results and disseminate such results in research papers and reports;
- Engaging in collaborative research with researchers from other clusters and Institutions;
