Are you a researcher who is:
• passionate about addressing social and economic inequalities and how we can create good work and better businesses
• committed to creating a more sustainable and inclusive economy, working with partners in universities, businesses and the public and voluntary/community sectors
• enthusiastic about helping to build a research-informed network of partners across Yorkshire and the Humber to trial and scale new approaches to supporting access to good work
From your work in academic, policy or practice, you will ideally have experience of employment-related research and expertise in one or more of the following qualitative methodologies in relation to employment and labour markets:
• qualitative interviewing
• stakeholder focus groups or workshops
• knowledge exchange activities with non-academic partners
A willingness and enthusiasm to work collaboratively across multiple sectors (academic, public, business, voluntary and community) will also be vitally important.
You will experience a unique research environment within Sheffield Hallam University, benefiting from close links with the
Sheffield Business School
and working with colleagues directly involved in delivering business support.
YPIP aims to give more power to low-income communities across Yorkshire to address the challenges posed by widening social and economic inequalities, and by climate change.
The programme will connect the expertise of the region’s 12 universities with the efforts of its residents, councils, and businesses to create a more inclusive and sustainable society.
CRESR will deliver a work package within YPIP that focuses on good work, collaborating with local employers to identify good practice and test new approaches to make recruitment, training and support for employees and local communities more inclusive.
You will work closely with local employers and voluntary and community sector partners to research the effectiveness and impact of inclusive business practices, share good practice and learning, and support the development of an inclusive business network.
There will also be opportunities to connect with other strands of work within YPIP including how to engage and empower communities in local decision making.
