icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddr,b as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities. 
The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Recently, the Program for HIV and AIDS has taken several initiatives to reach Hard-to-reach community groups with an innovative service delivery approach.
The Research Investigator will report to the Sr. Manager (M&E), HIV&AIDS and he/she will be mainly responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Generate new research ideas and develop research proposal/protocol and overall strategy to implement the research studies/projects;
  • Take responsibility and monitor all activities in the project protocol are smoothly completed on time;
  • Monitor and review program/survey data and provide feedback to the team for improving data quality on the SRHR among key populations in Manikganj and Mymensingh districts;
  • Maintain liaison with the donor and national/international stakeholders to organize meetings/disseminate study findings/workshops;
  • Monitor compliance with donor mandates/deliverables;
  • Prepare abstracts with study findings to be submitted to the national/international conference;
  • Work with the supervisor to prepare a study report (baseline and end line) to be submitted to the donor;
  • Present study findings to the study investigators and other scientists within/outside of HSPSD and seek inputs;
  • Work with supervisor in preparing scientific manuscripts with quantitative/qualitative data from the study findings;
  • Actively participate in in-house journal club/capacity-building sessions;
  • Mentor junior researcher in the team in preparing study report/manuscript/etc;
  • Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization;
  • Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed; 
Required qualifications and experience:
  • MBBS with a Master’s degree in the field of Health Sciences/Public Health/Epidemiology is required with good academic records.
  • At least 5 years of experience with quantitative/qualitative research projects.
  • Preference will be given to those who have practical experience in preparing and publishing manuscripts/writing project proposals for funding/preparing study reports/etc.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software is required.
  • Prior knowledge in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and working experience in ICT-related interventions/studies would be considered as an added advantage.
