The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking a Research Lab Technician II in the Human and Evolutionary Biology Department.The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
This position is available in the Borner Laboratory Human and Evolutionary Biology Section of the Department of Biological Sciences. Research in the Borner lab investigates the neural and physiological basis of nausea, anorexia, and energy balance dysregulation in animal models. The ideal candidate will be proficient in rodent behavioral techniques with background in neuroscience. Research methods used by the laboratory include rodent surgical procedures, molecular assays (immunohistochemistry, ELISA, qPCR), microscopy, and various behavioral neuroscience methods.
Responsibilities:
Candidates that seek to pursue a career in clinical/science fields (vet school, grad school, medical school) are preferred.
This is a part time (80% FTE, 30 hours per week) position. A commitment of one year is required.
Salary range: The hourly rate range for this position is $24.34 – $25.50. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Associate’s degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
