The Infectious Diseases Division at icddr,b has focused on studies to produce new knowledge on infectious diseases through epidemiological research and clinical trials to reduce the disease burden and find an appropriate remedy.  

Position Description:

The Research Officer will report to the Senior Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing and performing specific study procedures with the objective of collecting high-quality research data within the guidelines of the research protocols and organizational values. S/he will be involved in –

• Perform conventional and molecular laboratory techniques related to microbiology and biochemistry;
• Prepare SOP and Lab manual specific to a project;
• Corresponding with the donor (lab-related issues, equipment purchases, shipment of biological samples etc.);
• Receive specimens from the field/site team with appropriate documents and sample processing in the laboratory;
• Monitor and track consumption of resources to execute research protocols and interventions, and conduct high-quality research;
• Cooperate in duties and activities associated with research studies as needed;
• Prepare initial report /progress report on research work and also assist PI in writing scientific reports and manuscripts as per her/his instruction;
• Work with supervisor in writing manuscripts to support scientific manuscript creation.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters in biological science from a reputed university with good academic records;
• At least 3 years of experience in relevant fields;
• Sound communication skills in both English and Bengali with previous skills in translating and transcribing will get preference.
