Programme for Emerging Infection under Infectious Diseases Division is conducting a study on producing data to determine the causes of death of children more accurately. The findings will be shared with families, communities, healthcare providers and local and national public health institutes to develop policies and actions.

The Research Officer reporting to the Medical Officer, will be primarily responsible for planning, organizing and participating specific session in the household of a deceased child, participated in the study. The Research Officer will coordinate with the team members of multiple components of the project for smooth field implementation and also track each step of the specific procedure as per study objective. The specific areas of responsibilities include:

• Plan, communicate and organize field visits as per study need;
• Coordination with the team members of multiple components of the project;
• Build rapport with the community;
• Understand community sensitivity and respond to the community as per project need;
• Counseling family of a deceased child during cause of death result sharing session, whenever required/needed;
• Taking all relevant field notes of the household sessions; tracking and documentation of the day to day activities and updating the progress to the supervisor in order to fulfill the study objectives;
• Check for credibility and trustworthiness of collected data to ensure the quality of data;
• Prepare summary of collected data and interpret data on regular basis;
• Strong ethical understanding and implementation.

 Required qualification and experience:

• Master’s degree in social sciences with good academic records;
• At least 3 years of working experience in the relevant field
• Proficiency in Bengali typing is mandatory;
• Basic computer skill with standard documentation competency is essential
