The Role:

The Research Officer, with a physiotherapist qualification, provides evidence-based and family-centred paediatric assessment and practice within a multidisciplinary team, to children and their families participating in research studies, and complete reports to feedback outcomes to families and their designated clinicians. Additionally, the Research Officer provides input, on a variety of projects, into the development of research practices, procedures and protocols specific to physiotherapy components at Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute. This role will be embedded within the Research Team and managed by the Program Lead for Technology.

You will be based at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute at Camperdown, Brain and Mind Centre, The University of Sydney. You will work with the multidisciplinary subject matter experts, including biomedical engineers and academic researchers.

You may be required to travel from time to time within Sydney Metropolitan Area.

This position is a part-time (0.5 FTE) 2-year contract. If you hold a PhD with experience in the field the position title can be upgraded to Research Fellow.

Requirements:

Essential

  • A bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy
  • Registration with AHPRA as a physiotherapist
  • Hold a higher degree of research Masters or Doctor of Philosophy
  • A keen desire to learn about and work within disability and technology research across the age span
  • Expertise in the specialised area of paediatric psychological assessment
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of research management issues as they apply at clinical/translational research centres
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the research and health care system
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain upon joining

Desirable

  • Prior research experience as a research assistant, research officer or research fellow
  • Prior experience in the field of assistive technology
  • Ability to travel within the Sydney Metropolitan area as required
