Opportunity

The Climate Department is hiring a full-time Research and Operations Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for cutting-edge legal research at the intersection of climate and immigration law, and will manage high-level departmental and multi-organizational projects. Key responsibilities are listed below.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pioneering legal research at the intersection of climate in immigration law in coordination with our climate senior staff attorney and department director;
  • Manage logistics and coordination for various multi-organizational and cross departmental projects, including our climate data project;
  • Lead on administrative tasks for the department including scheduling, note-taking, PowerPoint design, and event & meeting planning;
  • Draft legal and advocacy documents related to the Department’s work, including reports, practitioner resources, and legal memos;
  • Develop and lead student chapter trips in partnership with other departments;
  • Update cross-organizational resources on climate displacement;
  • Engage in multi-organizational advocacy efforts, including coalition meetings and  convenings; and
  • Coordinate with other departments on cross departmental initiatives, including relating to U.S. federal advocacy.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • JD or LLM from a U.S. accredited law school.
  • At least 2-7 years of post-graduate professional experience.
  • Superb legal research & writing, communications, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management & organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in climate justice work & immigration policy is an asset.
  • Spanish language fluency is preferred.

 

Location: The candidate will work in one of IRAP’s offices in New York City or DC but remote work in the US will be considered. 

 

Compensation

This role is paid on a step scale based on years of work experience and education. The salary will be between $71,558 – $89,313. May be subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
