Position Summary
Genome Engineering & Stem Cell Center (GESC@MGI) is a premier fee-for-service core facility that supports hundreds of labs building research models using ever changing, cutting edge CRISPR and stem cell technologies. GESC@MGI is under the McDonnell Genome Institute, affiliated with the Department of Genetics. We are seeking highly motivated scientists to join our growing team!
Work in the lab involves mammalian cell culture for cell line engineering, reprogramming of patient samples into induced pluripotent stem cells and stem cell differentiation, molecular biology ranging from genotyping to CRISPR screening, and bioinformatics analyses. Scientists with diverse backgrounds should expect to be cross-trained and work in more than one service area. Teamwork is imperative to our success. Job Description

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD.
  • Multiple positions are available for candidates with wet lab skills only, or a combination of wet and dry lab skills.
    • Wet Lab Skills:
      • Ample experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology is highly desirable.
      • Stem cell experience.
    • Dry Lab Skills:
      • Proficiency in Python programming is highly desirable.
      • Computational skills using relevant software such as R.
  • Strong skills in scientific and critical thinking as well as troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to maintain good laboratory records.

Bachelorâ™s degree. Candidates with additional education and experience are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
