Job description
We are seeking to appoint a senior research administrator to work on a programme of work designed to improve the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes in emergency settings. This programme sits within the Integrative Cardiovascular Medicine theme at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre.One of the most common reasons why patients call 999 for an emergency ambulance or attend emergency departments is chest pain. Most of the time, the cause of the chest pain is not serious. However, there are many important diagnosis that connection is must consider, notably the possibility that the symptoms may have been caused by a heart attack or myocardial infarction.Research in Manchester has already driven significant progress in our approach in this area, allowing most patients to be given safe early reassurance within hours of seeking attention. However, research continues to make pathways even better.The post holder will work on an exciting programme of research involving new rapid tests that can be deployed in ambulance and Urgent Care Centres. We will develop patient-centred techniques including shared decision making, and we will look at new and better was to identify patients who are at high risk of heart disease in future. The role will involve coordinating existing and new studies including data management, ethics, coordinating the logistics of stored blood sample analysis, reporting and document management to research governance standards.What you will get in return:
