Required Qualification: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Particle/Nuclear Physics or Applied/Electrical Engineering. Three (3) years of research experience to include at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent. Experience in developing experimental particle nuclear physics detectors and data analysis. 

Preferred Qualification: 
Knowledge of software tools, e.g. Python, C/C++, FORTRAN, ROOT, LabVIEW. Experience in HEP/NP detector hardware and readout electronics, ideally with analog and digital electronics systems. Knowledge in modeling tools, e.g./ AutoCAD. Experience with JLab infrastructure/environment, in particular Hall A/Moller set up.

Primary Purpose: 
Stony Brook University has a Research Scientist position in the 
Department of Physics and Astronomy . The incumbent will develop and construct GEM detectors, develop/characterize DAQ systems, write simulation, reconstruction and analysis software for MOLLER as well as actively participate and take leadership roles in MOLLER.

     Develop and construct GEM Detectors.

     Test and Characterize Detectors.

     Develop/characterize DAQ system.

     Conduct simulation and document performance of the MOLLER GEM Tracker.

     Assist with writing simulation, reconstruction, and analysis software for MOLLER.

     Actively participate and take leadership roles in MOLLER.

     Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
