The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The laboratory of Dr. Abdus-Saboor at the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute has an open position for a highly motivated Research Staff Assistant to work in a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory. Working alongside postdoctoral researchers and reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, the laboratory studies how the sense of touch gives rise to pleasure and pain, with the aim of understanding how the brain reacts to what is experienced through the senses.
The Research Staff Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of a research laboratory with a focus on animal care and lab efficiency under the supervision of the PI. We seek a highly motivated, skilled, and dynamic individual who is enthusiastic about a career in science.
This is a full-time grant funded position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintains lab inventory and supplies.
- Under heavy supervision, assists in handling animal-related issues.
- Provides support during inspections or audits. Ensures compliance of safety protocols.
- Performs other assignments deemed necessary by the Principal Investigator, including general lab duties such as providing general lab support in optimizing lab space.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma is required.
- 0 – 3 months of experience in a research environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Prior experience in a research or animal care facility.
- Knowledge of IACUC guidelines and safety protocols.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in software tools like Microsoft Excel.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities are essential attributes for success in this role.
