Offer Description

Applications are open for one Research Studentship, within the framework of project “LipReleaseTau- The role of the plasma membrane in the unconventional secretion of tau: insights into the progression of tauopathies”/ iBB, with reference 2022.01454.PTDC, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: Production of Tau protein with pathological modifications (path-Tau, mutations associated with tauopathies). Quantification of membrane-partition of path-Tau with different lipid compositions. Characterization of the molecular mechanism of partition/oligomerization of path-Tau variants in lipid membranes. Characterization of the minimal molecular machinery required for membrane translocation of Path-Tau variants.

Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in February 2024, and may be eventually renewed up to the maximum of 6 months.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € €930.98, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following:

1. Curriculum evaluation (60%)

2. Experience in project field (20%)

3. Motivation Letter (20%)

Composition of the selection Jury: Professor Mário Nuno Sequeira Berberan e Santos (Presidente), Professor Ana Margarida Nunes da Mata Pires de Azevedo, and Dra. Ana Margarida Pereira de Melo.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
