The Environmental Institute of Houston at the University of Houston–Clear Lake is seeking a research technician. The Research Technician is responsible for collection of environmental and biological data. Responsible for entry and quality check of data and providing basic maintenance and operation of sampling equipment. Assists with laboratory sample analysis and processing.

*Note: This is a grant funded position. Continuation of the position is dependent upon future funding.

Duties:

Conducts environmental field and lab data collection.

  • Enters and checks data for quality assurance.
  • Cleans, organizes, and prepares sampling equipment in support of research and monitoring projects.
  • Maintains, calibrates, and operates field and lab environmental data collection instruments and gear and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience working in water quality or other aquatic environmental monitoring/research program or equivalent combination of academic and work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aquatic Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
  • Three years of experience working in water quality or other aquatic environmental monitoring/research programs.
