Research Technician I – Neurology

Position Summary
Research Technician I position available in the laboratory of Asher Albertson, MD/PhD. Good experience for those interested in biomedical research. Qualified applicants will work closely with existing lab members and Dr. Albertson to perform experiments and analyze data generated. Work will be focused on better understanding stroke pathology and recovery.
Position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments including image processing, analysis and preparation of manuscripts. Additional tasks include rodent behavior, histology, fluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, stereotax, and wide-field imaging.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
• Working knowledge of computer software.
• Interest in biology or neuroscience research.
• Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Salary Range
$16.21 – $21.69 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
