Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting with direction from the supervisor, manager, or higher-level technician. The lab research focus is on brain diseases using mouse models.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with mouse behavior monitoring, husbandry, and analysis which require compliance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Performs neuroanatomy techniques which involve brain tissue sectioning and staining. 
  • Assists with general lab maintenance, cleaning, and organization.

Schedule

Typical work week includes 4 weekdays and Saturdays for ~40hr per week. Some work on a rotating holiday schedule may be necessary. 

Working Conditions

Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of some basic computer software and general lab equipment.
  • Experience handing/working with mice or other animals.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a group setting. 
  • Careful attention to detail with good organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Salary Range
$16.21 – $21.69 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
